JAPSLAP/PEDAL KICK:
Rock onto the front wheel with the front brake on. Lean back on the rear wheel with the brake on. As you bring the front up give a little hop to get your balance and begin to let the nose back down.
As you let the nose down lean back and put your ass over the rear wheel. As you are doing all of this your pedals should be at the 3 and 9, flat.
While shifting your weight back as the nose is dropping, back pedal a bit so your chocolate foot is at about 1 o'clock. Just before your front wheel hits the ground, release the rear brake and pedal until your chocolate foot comes back to the front of the stance.
This should not be a full pedal stroke, more like a quick surge. In order to get the wheel off the ground you have to heave your body forward and push the handle bars away from you, just like a bunny hop.
As you land back on the rear wheel, throw your body back over the rear wheel to keep your balance and start the next pedal kick, or maintain a pogo.
The key to trials is to use one finger for braking. I use my index fingers so the other three fingers create a strong grip on the bars. Never use two fingers to brake.
